Stencil Flowers with Ink Blending

Today I have chosen the Never Stop Dreaming stencil from Altenew. I started to colour with pink diamond over all the flowers. After that I used pinkalicious on the lower portion of the petals to give some depth. With the second layer of petals I used citrus burst and Sunkissed in the same manner. Then came the next stencil, the leaves which I used limeade and bamboo. After I finished stencilling I used my pencil crayons to outline both flowers and leaves. To finish off the card I used some background paper, then made a black frame and placed it at an angle and stamped my greeting. Placed foam on the flowers to give the card some dimension.

THANKS A BUNCH

Clean & Simple Boutique Cards

Today I used water colour paper and the mini One of a Kind stamp for a background card. Again this is from Jennifer Rasa‘s course.

My flower is Altenew’s mini One of a Kind, stamped with Permanent Black ink. Then I used my Altenew 12 pan water colour set and used different colours and took one colour that went with all the flower colours and added it to each one. I did not colour in the stems and leaves, keeping it clean and simple. For the sentiment I used Versa Mark ink and Wow White Pearl super fine embossing powder on black card stock and attached to #110 card base.

Hello Friend

Clean & Simple Boutique Cards

Summer is almost over, first day of school and we are having a little drizzle

Today I have chosen so feature Altenew’s Clean & Simple Boutique Cards by  Jennifer Rasa

The first card is Simple Styling where I used the Altenew Cone Flower Stamp set, with the flowers from the Fall Harvest and Sea Shore ink sets. I also stamped some small blue flowers and leaves all onto #110 card stock.

To highlight the card I used my Staedtler Pigment Liner and randomly outlined some of the leaves and small flowers, put some dots in the centre of the flowers and Stamped Hello Friend. This is a quick and easy card to do as a thank you or cheering up some one, or as I have a, Hello Friend.

SUPPLIES USED

Inks Altenew Pumpkin & Yellow Ochre, Valcano Lake & Lagoon for the main flowers. The small flowers are in Eastern Sky and leaves are Frayed Leaf.

Thank You

Today is one of those lovely days to get caught up on blogging. Yesterday we had Heavy. Wet. Snow. Two days before my husband and I bought and planted some veggies, yesterday we put them back into their original containers and moved all our portable plants into the garage. Unwritten law, Do Not Plant before the May long weekend. Live and relearn.

My card today is a simple thank you card, and I will list the supplies below.

First I used Simply Pink to stamp a bouquet of flowers in the lower right corner. The leaves are Sweet Leaf and Just Green. After stamping my bouquet I stamped two extra roses in Pinkalicious and Rubellite, I also did a few extra leaves then die cut them. The roses I double foam taped and single foam taped some leaves. I then stamp my thank you on and finished off with some black dots and clear Wink of Stella on the roses and some leaves for added sparkle.

HELLO THERE SUNSHINE

For the Guys.

My background is the galaxy technique. I started with Altenew Inks Maple Yellow, Lagoon, Deep Iris, then added Eastern Sky Ultramarine and Azurite. Then I covered the card with white and gold splatters. This covered the whole sky then I used the Mountain Scene Stencil. Happy Accidents happen and I love this one. Following the guidelines I put the mountains in the wrong spot, then the trees were not what I expected and I placed them in the wrong spot over the mountains, finally figured out what I was doing wrong but like how everything turned out. It is one of my husbands favourite cards. The mountains were done in black and the trees in Evergreen. A few stars and my card is finished.

You make me HAPPY

This is a card for the guys, something that speaks to them.

For the background I used Altenew’s Pattern Play Diamond set, inked it with Versa Mark, then used Wow Blue Moon embossing powder. After that I painted the individual diamonds with Watercolor Brush Markers from Altenew’s Spring Garden, Dusk, Sea Breeze, and Emerald. I was not completely happy with the outcome so did a watered down Emerald colour wash over the whole card, this Brought the colours together with each colour still showing through. Next I followed a Jennifer McQuire tip for controlling height and cut our two Twigtastic Die from white card stock and one from Silver paper, glued them together and placed on the card. My sentiment is from Stampendous, which I fussy cut. I finished this card off with Studio Katia Midnight Blue Crystals.

Hello

Spring is on its way, the sun is shinning and the snow is melting. After a very cold few weeks anything about -10C is warm. With spring comes new colour palettes, green being the primary colour. For this card I choose to use the spring design inspired by Therese Calvird. My card is A2 with a 4×5/14 panel from 49th Market Sky packet. Then I used Altenew’s Feathery Stencil and blended with Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades, after that I used an old floral stencil Maple Yellow on it.The next step was to all my flower so I choose Altenew’s Layered Rose Die Set. My colours are yellow, white Vellum, and variegated pinks and rose colours from the Altenew Pink Fresh Celebrate paper pack. The leaves are from 2 colours of green paper. Fun foam was used to raise the rose over the leaves. Hello was cut from gold foil with the Altenew Fancy Hello Die. This card was then finished with green pearls and sequins and yellow and black splatters.

FLORAL FOCUS

This class has been so much fun, it took me way out of my comfort zone in many ways.

First I have not been a big fan of layering dies, but I have changed my mind on that score. We can use one or two of the layers or all of them, add some embellishments and you have a beautiful card. This works well with scraps from other cards in same colour family and using background papers as well.

Second is I don’t like doing monochromatic cards, but I have learnt that we have to know what are considered monochromatic colours, and that is any colour as long as they are different shades of the same colour. Again add embellishments and we have another beautiful card. I do a lot of sympathy cards for our church so I really like the white on white shades. The coloured cards take me away from sympathy sentiments.

Third, I don’t always like doing cards on black card stock but again they turned out beautiful. So all in all this was a course to step out of comfort zones for me. I hope this encourages you to try some layering dies, and enjoy the results.

My first card I used white card stock and a cream card stock for both leaves and flowers I also used the same cream colour for the lines I put on in place for ribbon. Always decide and stamp your sentiment before attaching your flowers. Add some splatter before or after your card is done and finish with your choice of bling.

There is no one like you

For todays blog I thought I would show two of the same cards with different colours. All the Supplies will be printed after the content.

To start with I did a drippy watercolour background, first put water across the paper and let it drip down towards the bottom. I next placed yellow over the water and let it flow down, then added orange so they would mix. I continued to do this until I got the depth of colour I wanted and let it dry. You can also use a heat gun to dry as well.

After the background was ready I used the Remember This stamp set from Altenew and placed the stamps I wanted to use onto the card so I could get an idea of what I wanted for placement. Next I took the main flower and stamped it with the black outline. I also stamped another flower onto some scrap paper and die cut it out so I would have a mask for this flower. Placing the mask over the flower I then stamped the leaves and small flowers in place. If the leaves or flowers did not come from under the flower the way I wanted them I adjusted the mask and stamped again. A stamp positioner is great for this as only the mask has to be moved. I coloured the leaves and then removed the mask and used the next layer to colour the flower. The red flower is part of the same colour family and the blue flower is complimentary. After I used the sentiment from Incredible Stamp set. Then added some rhinestones for glitter. Next I covered the back with some fun foam for height. A plain simple beautiful card for almost any occasion.

SPOTLIGHT AN IMAGE

Good Morning, no rain today so we are all happy. Today I wanted to show you how to showcase or spotlight and image.I learnt this trick from Jennifer McQuire. I will list my supplies down below. The background is black with white pigment ink stamping with the Altenew Remember This stamp set. I did some 1st and 2nd generational stamping to help give depth. I deliberately left where I tried to double stamp, it gives the appearance of wind blowing. Now for the the flower I stamped the outline in black, both flower and leaves. Next was learning to water colour them, one leaf and petal at a time. I placed a small amount of water on one petal, painted it in layers with Rough, Rubellite, and Ruby Red. Skip a petal and follow the same procedures making sure I did not paint side by side petals. It took a lot of practice to have the look I wanted. After the flower was done I did the same with the leaves using Limeaide and Moss. Then it was time to die cut out my images, even the practice flowers. Next I placed the flower on my card base and positioned where I wanted to glue down the leaves. After the leaves are in place I borrowed another trick from Jennifer McQuire, and glued the flowers on top of each other then glued it onto the card. I stamped You are one of a kind sentiment from Altenew’s Incredible stamp set, with Versa Mark onto black card stock and embossed with white embossing powder, and glued it right onto the top of the card.. I finished off the card with some iridescent dots.

Remember This

I love season changes and one of my favourite spring colours is yellow, it is so warm and inviting. This card size is 5 1/4 x 4 and the topper is 5 x 3 3/4

I stared by taking the flower outline in Gray Denim and stamped along the left edge top to bottom right edge forming a triangle. Next I stamped the same outline in Fresh Lemon, then first layer in Citrus Burst and third layer in Maple Yellow. For the final layer I used Hero Arts Orange Crush to give depth and accent. The flower buds were done the same way only no Orange Crush. The leaves were with Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades. After cutting the flowers and buds I placed them on onto the topper raising up one with fun foam, after this the card looked unfinished to me so covering my work with scrape paper I put Gray Denim onto my craft mat added a little water and took a paint brush to splatter the card. This made a huge difference to me. I finished my card with some dollar store sequins and You are one of a kind stamp on some gray cardstock stamped with versa mark and covered with Wow Space Dust embossing powder. Such a pretty soft card.
